Hi Deadra, thanks for dropping by. You are one busy lady. A mum, an author, editor and can I say, crazy animal rescue lady. What ‘character’ do you enjoy the most?
I have to admit I enjoy writing women with pizazz and passion. The ones who have a spark of fire in their soul, a few issues that make you cringe, and a snappy wit that keeps you laughing. So, in essence, a smart ass, independent woman who might verge on crazy.
Well, uh... Cause they remind me of me, I guess? They are the easiest for me to relate to, and they aren't a dime a dozen. When you read one of those characters, you remember them by name, not as "that one girl in this or that book."
I’m lucky enough to have been on the end of your editing whip, lol. What do you enjoy most about being the one to get your authors into shape?
I absolutely love seeing the talent and voice of my authors flourish. It makes me proud to know the talent I saw struggling to rise wasn't in my imagination, and let's face it, using that whip is fuuun. Probably more fun for my authors than it should be, but hey, at least you all work on your edits with a smile on your face, right?
Your latest project is The Faxfire Series and book one Panthers and Precincts is out now. What inspired you to write this and tell us when the next book is due out.
There were several reasons why I wrote this book and how it was inspired. Not the least of which is my own animal empathy, or my departed cat, Xerxes, who could talk to an extent. Visiting friends often told me, "You should write a book about that cat!" and I did just that. He had to have a supporting cast, of course. The second book, Wolves and Warrants, releases on April 4th, but it is already up for pre-order. The third book is nearly complete and will be releasing this fall.
If your friends were asked to describe you in one word, what would it be?
Eccentric. Without a doubt, eccentric. Or at least, that's what I'm going to say because when I asked, they had a few other colorful words that aren't for just anyone to hear.
Are you a plotter or fly by the seat of your pants writer?
I am more of a fly by the seat of my plotting. Figure that one out. I dare you. ;)
Do you set yourself strict rules while you're writing?
Yes. It looks like this. "Dear Deadra, you want to play video games? Good. Then write one more chapter. Once you are done, you can play...until we start again tomorrow. Don't touch that gaming console. Don't you pick up the DS. And for the love of the gods, stay away from Facebook. That place is dangerous! Love, D. F."

How do you spend your down time? *ducks flying objects and maniacal laughter* I know, you probably don’t have any but if you could sneak away for an hour or two, what would we find you doing?
You cruel thing you. You know I'm a slave to my des—Work. *ahem* If you must insist, I suppose I shall bare my...soul. Ha, you were thinking something dirty, weren't you? Anyhoo, believe it or not I'm a lady of rather genteel arts. I cross stitch, crochet, and I love sneaking off to spend time with my horses.
Thanks for letting me stop by, madam. Visiting you is a pleasure, though I hope I didn't cause our readers to blush to fiercely...or laugh to hard.
I think it will take more than that to make my readers blush my dear. Thanks for the visit and good luck with the series.
